Some of our previous customers have been interested to know how accessibility the apartment is for wheelchairs.
Situated on the ground floor, the apartment was originally purpose-built for wheelchair access, and we feel is suitable if accompanied by an able-bodied person in the event of emergency.
The accommodation provides the following,
- From the parking space, there are no steps to the front door, with a clear path from the car park on a gentle slope to the apartment main entrance.
- The parking space no more than 50 metres from apartment.
- A 'no-parking' area marked on ground in front of path entrance from car park.
- There is a horizontal handrail across the bath and a combination of horizontal and vertical handrails around the toilet.
- The bathroom is large enough for wheelchair access.
- There is a level floor throughout apartment.
- Light switches are situated approximately 1200mm from floor level.
- There are long vertical metal handles on doors.
- There is close pile carpet throughout.
- The television and set top box has remote control.
There are a few restrictions within the accomodation to mention,
- The electric meter is around 2 metres above ground level.
- The parking space is tight, therefore if other cars are adjacent, a solo wheelchair user may have problems getting out. If the wheelchair user is not the driver, they could use the no parking area to get out of the car.
- There is a small lip on the main door with no ramp supplied, but this may not be a problem.
- There is no bathing seat/board supplied for the bath.
- Washbasins/kitchen basin does not have lever taps.
